KLN Studio designed and built these playful shelves to match the colorful aesthetic of this Brooklyn Tower residence.
Alternating sections of cherry veneer and painted color combine to form a single unbroken line from floor to ceiling, accented by two circular cubbies hung alongside.

The shelving is hung from an array of concealed brackets that were precisely located on the wall, bringing the individual sections together without visible supports or panels.

The curves were achieved through the kerf bending technique. A series of deep cuts were made at precise depths and distances between each other, removing enough material to allow the wood to bend into a semicircle. The kerfs were then filled with adhesive and the forms clamped into shape, before being either veneered or painted.
